Garv’s Pick of the Week: The Grand Budapest Hotel [Blu-ray / Criterion Collection]: If you ask me, this movie represents Wes Anderson at his best. It’s hilarious, quirky, meticulously designed, and heartbreaking. Now this beautiful confection receives the Criterion treatment, with a director-approved transfer, new audio commentary, “making of” documentary, and many more assorted extras.

Billy Liar [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: Great Britain’s angry young man genre gets its own Walter Mitty with this “kitchen sink” comedy starring Tom Courtenay.
Don’t Drink the Water [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: Woody Allen’s popular stage play gets a 1969 film adaptation directed by Howard “Ernest T. Bass” Morris, starring Jackie Gleason, Estelle Parsons, and Ted “TV’s Donald from That Girl” Bessell. It only works intermittently, but it is kind of a fascinating train wreck.
Outcast of the Islands [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: I’ve never seen this Joseph Conrad adaptation, but it was directed by Sir Carol Reed (The Third Man), so that’s a good sign.
Blood on the Moon [Blu-ray / Warner Archive]: Robert Mitchum brings his Film Noir bona fides to the Western genre, and the moon turns blood red (in glorious Black & White).
Underdog: The Complete Series [DVD / Shout Factory]: “The secret compartment of my ring I fill with an Underdog super energy pill.” All three seasons of the pharmaceutically enhanced cartoon superhero are collected in this DVD box set.
