Garv’s Pick of the Week: The Man Who Cheated Himself (Flicker Alley)

For the release week of September 25th:

Garv’s Pick of the Week: The Man Who Cheated Himself [Blu-ray / Flicker Alley]: This is the third teaming of the Film Noir Foundation, Flicker Alley, and the UCLA Film and Television Archive to restore and release a lesser-known film noir.  The previous two releases, Too Late For Tears (1949) and Woman on the Run (1950) were fantastic, so this is an easy blind buy for me.

Additional Titles of Interest —

Halloween [4K UHD / Lionsgate]: John Carpenter’s landmark horror (and one of the most artfully restrained slasher flicks ever made) gets a 4K upgrade to UHD disc.

The Baby (Special Edition) [Blu-ray / Arrow Video]: Here’s a creepy concept for a horror film — A female social worker takes over the care of a 21 year-old, slobbering man-baby.  What could go wrong?

Andrei Rublev [Blu-ray / Criterion]: A classic of Russian cinema gets the prestige Criterion Blu-ray treatment.

The Day of the Jackal [Blu-ray / Arrow Video]: The gold standard of political thrillers comes to Blu-ray from Arrow Video.

Trapeze [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: Burt Lancaster and the circus just go together (and he performs most of his own stunts).
