Garv’s Pick of the Week: The Court Jester [Blu-ray / Paramount Presents]: “The pellet with the poison’s in the vessel with the pestle. The chalice from the palace has the brew that is true.” Danny Kaye’s best film is getting a Blu-ray release from a 6K master. You heard me — 6K! The Technicolor pallet of this swashbuckler spoof should sing on this disc. Plus, it’s one of the funniest films of the 1950s. For me, this is a “must own” Blu-ray.

After the Thin Man [Blu-ray / Warner Archive]: Nick and Nora Charles are back, along with Asta and Jimmy Stewart in this excellent first follow-up to The Thin Man. If you loved the first film, you’ll want to own this one too.
The Pajama Game [Blu-ray / Warner Archive]: This Cinemascope adaptation of a popular Broadway musical stars Doris Day and features choreography by Bob Fosse.
Southland Tales [Blu-ray / Arrow Video]: Richard Kelly’s controversial follow-up to Donnie Darko gets a prestige release with two different cuts of the film — the original theatrical version and the longer Cannes cut.
Tomorrow I’ll Wake Up and Scald Myself with Tea (Zítra vstanu a opařím se čajem) [Blu-ray / Second Run]: British label Second Run DVD is releasing a region-free Blu-ray of this Czechoslovakian time travel comedy from the director of Ikarie XB-1. I’m hoping to get my hands on a copy for a full review. Stay tuned. This one isn’t currently available on Amazon, but it can be purchased from the “Second Run DVD” link above.
Tales of the Uncanny [Blu-ray / Severin Films]: The horror anthology film gets an overview documentary.
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro [4K UHD / Discotek Media]: Hayao Miyazaki’s first feature film as a director gets a 4K UHD upgrade. It’s far from Miyazaki’s best, as his movies would get richer and more personal with time, but any Miyazaki film in 4K is worth owning.
