Garv’s Pick of Week: When We Were Kings (Criterion)

For the release week of October 22nd:

Garv’s Pick of the Week: When We Were Kings [Blu-ray / Criterion]: Leon Gast’s Oscar-winner tells the story of the 1974 heavyweight boxing championship fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman, known as the “Rumble in the Jungle.”  It is quite simply one of the most entertaining documentaries ever made.  The characters and story are so compelling, you don’t have to have any interest in boxing to enjoy it.

Additional Titles of Interest —

The Eagle [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: Rudolph Valentino goes the masked vigilante route in this silent 1925 historical actioner.

A Man for All Seasons [Blu-ray / Sony]: If you missed the Twilight Time release of this Oscar favorite, you have a second chance to pick it up.

The Return of Martin Guerre [Blu-ray / Cohen Film Collection]: Is he or isn’t he?  That’s the question when a medieval French soldier (Gerard Depardieu) returns home to his family.

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark [Blu-ray / Warner Archive]: This TV Movie gave many kids nightmares back in 1973.

007: The Daniel Craig Collection [4K UHD / MGM]: Before Daniel Craig uses his license to kill one last time, his four previous James Bond outings get an upgrade to 4K UHD.  I know this is a minority opinion, but Quantum of Solace is my favorite of the bunch.
