Garv’s Pick of the Week: Gun Crazy (Warner Archive)

For the release week of May 8th:

Garv’s Pick of the Week: Gun Crazy [Blu-ray / Warner Archive]: This classic film noir was Bonnie and Clyde before Bonnie and Clyde was Bonnie and Clyde.  If you love noir, you need to have this in your collection.  Buy it, or Annie may have to shoot.

Additional Titles of Interest —

This is Cinerama - 2017 Authorized Restoration [Blu-ray / Flicker Alley]: Flicker Alley has released the first of the Cinerama travelogues before, but this new release is from a 2017 restoration from the original elements.  If you have the old release, this may still be worth the upgrade.  Of course, the film is presented in the Smilebox format, which simulates the curved screens of the Cinerama theaters.

Windjammer: The Voyage of the Christian Radich - 2017 Authorized Restoration [Blu-ray / Flicker Alley]: The only movie filmed in Cinemiracle, a rival curved-screen process that competed with Cinerama, also gets a new restoration and an encore release.  This looks to be a marked improvement over the previous Blu-ray.

The House That Dripped Blood [Blu-ray / Scream Factory]: Amicus anthology.  ‘Nuff said.

La Belle Noiseuse (The Beautiful Troublemaker) [Blu-ray / Cohen Film Collection]: One of the finest films about art and the nature of the creative process gets an HD upgrade.

Phantom Thread [4K UHD / Universal]: The Blu-ray of one of last year’s best films was released last month. Now. the delayed 4K UHD release is finally here.
