Garv’s Pick of the Week: Horror Express (Arrow Video)

For the release week of February 12th:

Garv’s Pick of the Week:Horror Express [Blu-ray / Arrow Video]: One of the most enjoyable team-ups of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee is this Euro-horror, from Spanish filmmaker Eugenio Martin, about a creature stalking the Trans-Siberian Express bound for Moscow.  Telly Savalas also has a scene-stealing supporting role as a Cossack cop.  Arrow’s Blu-ray gives the title a fresh 2k transfer from the original negative, which is reportedly a big improvement over the previous Severin release.

Additional Titles of Interest —

Fright Night [Blu-ray / Sony]: Oh, you’re so COOL, Brewster!  This popular 80s horror has received a couple of limited-edition Blu-ray releases from boutique labels, which sold out fast.  Fortunately, Sony is now releasing the film themselves, so you have a new opportunity to pick it up.

Audition [Blu-ray / Arrow Video]: Maybe it’s best not to remarry.

Desert Fury [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: A desert noir with Burt Lancaster and Lizabeth Scott.

The Haunted Castle / Finances of the Grand Duke [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: Two lesser-known silent features from F. W. Murnau get a double-feature Blu-ray release.

None Shall Escape [Blu-ray / Sony]: This speculative drama from 1944 eerily anticipated facts that would be revealed about the Holocaust.

Four Weddings And A Funeral [Blu-ray / Shout Select]: The popular romantic comedy gets the Shout Select prestige treatment.
