Garv’s Pick of the Week: Matinee (Shout Select)
For the release week of January 16th:
Garv’s Pick of the Week: Matinee [Blu-ray / Shout Select]
: MANT! Joe Dante’s love letter to the gimacky hucksterism of producer/director William Castle stars John Goodman as Lawrence Woolsey, a fictional director who plans to release his latest horror film during the Cuban Missle Crisis. I dearly love this warm, hilarious movie. It’s probably my favorite Joe Dante film, which is saying a lot. Plus, it provided a lovely supporting role for legendary character actor Jessie White, in his last feature film.

: This box set includes three films from “The Studio That Dripped Blood” — Asylum (1972), And Now the Screaming Starts (1973), and The Beast Must Die (1974) — each on its own Blu-ray, plus a disc of extras, entitled “The Vault of Amicus.”
Eye Of The Cat [Blu-ray / Scream Factory]
: In this forgotten thriller, a man with a deathly fear of cats plans a robbery of his wealthy aunt, who just happens to share her home with a group of feral felines.
Kills on Wheels [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]
: I don’t know much about this one, but it features a wheelchair-bound assasin. Sounds like fun.
