Garv’s Pick of the Week: Party Girl [Blu-ray / Warner Archive]: Here’ an interesting genre mashup. Nicholas Ray (In a Lonely Place) directs a film noir in color and CinemaScope with musical dance numbers. Cyd Charisse and her photogenic legs star opposite Robert Taylor in a this lurid story about a mob lawyer’s romance with a chorus girl. Lee J. Cobb plays a gangster modeled after Al Capone. This film would pair well with Love Me or Leave Me (1955).
