For the release week of May 22nd:
Garv’s Pick of the Week: The Misadventures of Biffle & Shooster [DVD / Kino Lorber]
: This collection of short subjects from the world’s favorite fake 1930s comedy team is quite simply the most fun video release of this or many a year. I posted a full review of the disc here. Trust me, you’ll love it. Here’s a taste:
Additional Titles of Interest —
Fleischer Rarities: Treasures from the Fleischer Studio [Blu-ray / Thunderbean Animation]
: Rarities from the studio that gave us Betty Boop and Popeye get an HD release from the always reliable Thunderbean Animation.
Geronimo: An American Legend [Blu-ray / Twilight Time]: I haven’t seen this revisionist Western, but I’ll watch anything directed by Walter Hill.
Next Stop, Greenwich Village [Blu-ray / Twilight Time]: I also haven’t seen Paul Mazursky’s fictionalized remembrance of his formative years, but I’ll watch anything with Lou Jacobi.
A Fistful of Dollars (Special Edition) [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]
: The new Blu-ray edition of Leone’s landmark Euro-Western features a sharper image from a recent restoration, along with numerous new extras. However, it also features the weird yellow-green color timing that has plagued recent releases of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
