CINEVENT 50, Here I Come!

CINEVENT 50, Here I Come!

Greetings, movie lovers,

I will likely take a break from posting through Memorial Day, as I will be traveling to Columbus, Ohio to attend CINEVENT 50.  What is CINEVENT?  CINEVENT is a gathering of fans of silent and early sound films and of collectors of motion pictures and related items.

This year, CINEVENT turns 50, and as in the previous 49 years, hundreds of attendees will gather from Wednesday evening through the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend to watch near-continuous 16mm movie screenings and to shop over one-hundred dealer tables full of film, video, sound recordings, posters, stills, lobby cards, books, autographs…everything imaginable associated with film.

Highlights of this weekend include conversations and film introductions with guests film critic/author Leonard Maltin (Entertainment Tonight, Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide, Maltin on Movies podcast), author Scott Eyman (John Wayne: The Life and Legend, Hank & Jim: The Fifty-Year Friendship of Henry Fonda and James Stewart), and filmmaker Michael Schlesinger (The Adventures of Biffle and Shooster).  In addition to the 16mm screenings, there is also a digital 3-D double-feature of The Maze (1953) and Gog (1954) to kick things off Wednesday night.  In other words, I’m going to be kinda busy.

If you are interested in attending, the full details can be found on the CINEVENT website.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend, everyone.  See you when I return.

Cheers,

garv
