Garv’s Pick of the Week: World of Wong Kar Wai (Criterion)

For the release week of March 23rd:

Garv’s Pick of the Week: World of Wong Kar Wai [Blu-ray / Criterion]: The colorful, romantic films of Wong Kar Wai are collected in this 7-disc Blu-ray set. Included are seven films: As Tears Go By (1988), Days of Being Wild (1990), Chungking Express (1994), Fallen Angels (1995), Happy Together (1997), In the Mood for Love (2000), and 2046 (2004).

Additional Titles of Interest —

Crossed Swords [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: Based on the box office success of Richard Lester’s The Three Musketeers (1973) and The Four Musketeers (1974), this 1977 adaptation of Mark Twain’s The Prince and the Pauper was greenlit. Oliver Reed and Raquel Welch were cast (possibly to create confusion with Lester’s Musketeer films).

Doc [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: This take on the gunfight at the O.K. Corral came out in 1971, so it is, of course, a revisionist version. Stacy Keach, Faye Dunaway, and Harris Yulin star.

Showdown [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: I’ll watch any Western with Dean Martin. Rock Hudson also stars in this one.

Shoot Out [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: Gregory Peck stars in this 1971 Western. That’s about all I know about it.

Soul [4K UHD / Disney]: The latest Pixar film hits home video.
