Neo-Noir Headed to Blu-Ray in November
Two of my favorite neo-noir titles are headed to Blu-ray from Kino Lorber. First, on November 13th, Kino Lorber Studio Classics will release Harold Ramis’ underrated Christmas noir, The Ice Harvest (2005).
Then on November 20th, Scorpion Releasing will release John Dahl’s darkly funny The Last Seduction (1994) through its distribution deal with Kino. Also on November 20th, Kino Lorber Studio Classics will release the Mamie Van Doren Film Noir Collection (1957-1959), featuring a trio of late Fifties noirs starring the blonde bombshell.
Here are the announcements from the Kino Lorber Studio Classics Facebook page:
Coming November 13th on Blu-ray!
The Ice Harvest (2005) with optional English subtitles
Color 89 Minutes 1.85:1 Rated R…
‘Twas the night before Christmas… John Cusack (Money for Nothing) and Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade) lead an all-star cast in this hilarious and unpredictable thriller. When lawyer Charlie (Cusack) and his partner Vic (Thornton) steal from a mob boss, they think they’ve pulled off the perfect crime. But when they race through a night filled with mayhem, lust and lethal surprises, they realize that the biggest risk they’ll take will be trusting each other. From Harold Ramis, the director of Analyze This and Groundhog Day, The Ice Harvest cracks with outrageous laughs and slippery twists that will keep you guessing until the very end. The great Robert Benton (Kramer vs. Kramer, The Late Show) produced and co-wrote the screenplay with Richard Russo (Nobody’s Fool). The wonderful cast includes Oliver Platt (Funny Bones), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) and Mike Starr (Cabin Boy).
