For the Love of Laughter: An Online Course in Classic Film Comedy
I owe my love of film to being introduced at an early age to the classic movie comedians, including Abbott & Costello, the Marx Brothers, W.C. Fields, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Laurel & Hardy, and all six of The Three Stooges. Their movies are still precious to me, and classic comedy remains my favorite film genre. Those movies just make life better.
If you share a love of classic film comedy, or if the genre is one of your cinematic black holes that you’d like to explore, you now have the chance to learn more on the subject from actor, comedian, author, and film historian Nick Santa Maria. Not only is Nick a supremely talented actor who co-starred in my favorite DVD release of 2018, The Misadventures of Biffle and Shooster (as half of a fake 1930s comedy team). Over the past few years, Nick has been teaching courses in film and television history at Cal State Camarillo and UCLA. In other words, he knows his stuff.
If you live outside of the Los Angeles area, you can now purchase his course on the great movie comedians online. I can’t think of a more enjoyable subject or a more engaging teacher.
Below is a description of the course, and the links will take you to site where you can purchase it.
