Garv’s Pick of the Week: Do the Right Thing (4K UHD, Universal)

For the release week of February 2nd:

Garv’s Pick of the Week: Do the Right Thing [4K UHD / Universal]: One of the finest and most (sadly) relevant movies of the 1980s gets a 4K UHD upgrade. The film has everything – drama, humor, music, moral outrage, and dazzling direction and cinematography. The colors should really pop on 4K UHD, so even if you already own the film, it’s probably worth the upgrade.

Additional Titles of Interest —

The Kiss Before the Mirror [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: James Whale made a lot more than Frankenstein films. Here’s a pre-code melodrama he directed with Nancy Carroll, Frank “Wizard of Oz” Morgan, Paul Lukas, and Gloria “Titanic” Stuart.

Anna Lucasta [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: Kino has a couple of lesser-known Sammy Davis Jr. films this week. I don’t know anything about them, other than they feature fantastic co-stars. This one co-stars Eartha “Catwoman” Kitt.

A Man Called Adam [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]This one co-stars maestro Louis Armstrong.

Small Soldiers [Blu-ray / Paramount]: Any week that a Joe Dante film makes its way to Blu-ray is a good week.

Mouse Hunt [Blu-ray / Paramount]: Before Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Gore Verbinski directed this Rube Goldberg-esque action comedy with an unstoppable rodent.

Ladybugs [Blu-ray / Paramount]: I’ve never seen it, but it stars Rodney Dangerfield, so it can’t be all bad.
