Garv’s Pick of the Week: Francis the Talking Mule 7 Film Collection (Kino Lorber)

For the release week of May 3rd:

Garv’s Pick of the Week: Francis the Talking Mule 7 Film Collection [Blu-ray / Kino Lorber]: It’s a slow week for Blu-ray releases, which you could probably intuit by my choice of “Pick of the Week.” All seven films in this mildly amusing comedy series — Francis (1950), Francis Goes to the Races (1951), Francis Goes to West Point (1952), Francis Covers the Big Town (1953), Francis Joins the WACS (1954), Francis in the Navy (1955), and Francis in the Haunted House (1956) — are included in this Blu-ray box set. Donald O’Connor stars in the first six movies, with Chill Wills voicing the titular mule. Mickey Rooney took over the lead in the seventh film, and Paul Frees took over the mule-voicing duties. All seven films are presented in new 2K masters.

Additional Titles of Interest —

Turning Red [4K UHD / Disney]: I don’t usually include new movies in my weekly recommendations, but the pickin’s were scarce, and Pixar has a good track record.
