Shout! Factory’s horror sub-label, Scream Factory, announced several upcoming titles for September, including Blu-ray upgrades for three 1970s Hammer horror titles.

***NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENTS***

If you’re a fan of Hammer Films (like we are) then save up for this Sept when we release three films from them on Blu-ray for the first time in North America.

 

SCARS OF DRACULA (1970) – The legendary Christopher Lee is back as Dracula, bringing unspeakable horrors upon a local village that defies his evil reign. But when a young man and his luscious girlfriend unwittingly visit the Count’s castle, they find themselves trapped in a face-to-face frenzy of bloodthirsty vixens, religious blasphemy and sadistic henchmen. The Prince of Darkness has returned like never before, but will his horrific mark remain forever? Patrick Troughton (Dr. Who, The Omen) co-stars in this 1970 shocker, directed with bloody bravado by Hammer veteran Roy Ward Baker (Quatermass And The Pit, Dr. Jekyll And Sister Hyde).

***NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT***

We add another John Carpenter film into our fold with his 1998 fang-baring, western-toned thriller JOHN CARPENTER’S VAMPIRES. Here are the early details we have a current time to share.

  • National street date for North America (Region A) is Sept 24th.
  • This will be presented as a Collector’s Edition and will come guaranteed with a slipcover in its first three months of release.
  • The newly commissioned artwork pictured comes to us from Devon Whitehead (Trick r Treat, Valentine, Sleepealkers). This art will be front-facing and the reverse side of the wrap will feature the original theatrical artwork.
  • Extras will be announced on a later date. However, we can confirm already that we have new interviews with Mr. Carpenter and Sandy King Carpenter.

Devilish behavior knows no bounds in 1981’s FEAR NO EVIL. Directed by Frank LaLoggia and sporting a killer punk and new wave soundtrack, this cult film fav finally see’s it Blu-ray debut in North America. Expected release date is planned for Sept 24th.

God has appointed three archangels to fight against Lucifer, who has assumed human features. Archangel Raphael, in the guise of Father Damon, kills Lucifer and ends his life in jail. But his sister, Archangel Mikhail, knows that one day the devil will reappear. Eighteen years later, Lucifer returns, now in the form of Andrew, a brilliant but shy schoolboy who becomes conscious of his devilish nature on his birthday. Archangel Mikhail, allies with Gabrielle to defeat Lucifer in this “remarkably assured, personal and powerful film [that] is never less than gripping” (TV Guide)!
