Scream Factory January 2019 Titles

Scream Factory, Shout! Factory’s horror sub-label, announced several new titles and updates for January 2019, including a classic Hammer Studios title.  Here are the details, as posted on the Scream Factory Facebook page:

 

**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT**

We’re pleased to announce that our next Hammer Films Blu-ray release is 1966’s THE PLAGUE OF THE ZOMBIES. Street date planned for January 15th!

n a remote 19th-century Cornish village, an evil presence lurks within the darkness of the witching hour. A mysterious plague relentlessly consumes lives at an unstoppable rate. Unable to find the cause, Dr. Peter Tompson enlists the help of his mentor, Sir James Forbes. Desperate to find an antidote, they instead find inexplicable horror: empty coffins with the diseased corpses missing! Following a series of strange and frightening clues, they discover a deserted mine where they discover a world of black magic and a doomed legion of flesh-eating slaves … the walking dead!

First, we released Joe Dante’s classic werewolf film THE HOWLING, then we served up the super bonkers HOWLING II with Sybil Danning. So today we continue the terror as we announce that Philippe Mora’s HOWLING III (also known as HOWLING III: THE MARSUPIALS) will be coming to Blu-ray for the first time on January 15th!

Long ago, the now-extinct marsupial wolf (a.k.a. Tasmanian Tiger) roamed the Australian Outback. Today, a werewolf colony that has descended from these marsupials has taken over the land. This race of human-like creatures roams the outback, preying on the unsuspecting to feed their growing numbers. The race for survival is on as the humans struggle to contain these out of control creatures.

**SATURDAY THE 14th Update**

Announced earlier at Comic Con, we now can confirm that the fun 1981 horror spoof will finally makes its Blu-ray debut on Tuesday the 15th (of January). 😉

John (Richard Benjamin, Love At First Bite) and Mary (Paula Prentiss, The Stepford Wives) can’t believe their good fortune when they inherit the vast estate of John’s recently departed uncle. Sure, it’s a fixer-upper. But there’s nothing that can’t be taken care of with a fresh coat of paint, a little dusting … and maybe an exorcist! It turns out that they’ve just moved into the most eerie house in Erie, PA — and one that some loathsome looky-loos are simply dying to take off their hands! Monsters, mayhem, and mirth descend upon the house — and only a mysterious book can save this everyday normal family from Saturday’s paranormal activity.

**OBSESSION Update**

We add another Brian De Palma masterpiece into our roster on January 15th with a Collector’s Edition of his 1976 psychological hit thriller OBSESSION. Cliff Robertson (Charley), Geneviève Bujold (Coma) and John Lithgow (Raising Cain) star. Co-written by Paul Schrader (Cat People) and features a haunting score from Bernard Hermann (Psycho).

Release will come with a slipcover (guaranteed for three months after its original release date). The newly-commissioned, highly-conceptual artwork you see pictured comes to us from illustrators WBYK. This art will be front-facing on the slipcover and wrap. The reverse side of the wrap will showcase the original theatrical poster art design.

**10 TO MIDNIGHT Update**

The 1983 Charles Bronson thriller is stalking its way to Scream Factory as a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray on January 22nd!

This wild and sleazy “slasher-film-in-disguise” cult favorite from the Cannon Group (say no more) also stars Gene Davis (Cruising), Andrew Stevens (The Fury), Wilford Brimley (The Thing), Lisa Eilbacher (Beverly Hills Cop) and Geoffrey Lewis (Night of the Comet). Directed by J. Lee Thompson (Cape Fear, Happy Birthday to Me).

Release will come with a slipcover (guaranteed for three months after its original release date). The newly-commissioned conceptual artwork (which plays up the slasher film theme) you see pictured comes to us from artist Joel Robinson (Silent Night Deadly Night, House on Haunted Hill). This art will be front-facing on the slipcover and wrap. The reverse side of the wrap will showcase the original theatrical poster art design (showing Bronson).

**SCREAMERS Update**

Back in July we announced that the 90s sci-fi epic SCREAMERS (starring Peter Weller) was in progress and today we make its path a little more clearer: Release date for the new Blu-ray is January 29th!

The year is 2078. The man is rebel Alliance Commander Col. Joseph Hendrickson (Weller), assigned to protect the Sirius 6B outpost from ravage and plunder at the hands of the New Economic Bloc. His state-of-the-art weaponry are known as Screamers: manmade killing devices programmed to eliminate all enemy life forms. Screamers travel underground, their intent to kill announced by piercing shrieks. They dissect their victims with sushi precision, then eradicate all traces of the carnage. They are lethal. Effective. Tidy.
