Warner Archive Upcoming Blu-rays

The Warner Archive posted a flurry of new Blu-ray announcements to their Facebook page last night.  These included the specs for the previously announced, unrated, international cut of John Landis’ Innocent Blood (1992), as well as the new announcements of Christopher Guest’s mockumentary Waiting for Guffman (1996), the Ray Bradbury adaptation The Illustrated Man (1969), Western The Law and Jake Wade (1958), and musical Brigadoon (1954).

While we don’t know the official release dates, we have the rest of the specs from the Warner Archive Facebook page:

Anne Parillaud is Marie, a vampire who imperils Pittsburgh when she fails to kill off one of her victims, mob boss Sal Macelli (Robert Loggia). If Marie and her undercover cop boyfriend (Anthony LaPaglia) can’t stop the mobster’s new “family” of goons, Pittsburgh will be the pits. Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Parker Posey, Fred Willard and Bob Balaban costar as stagestruck townfolk who pin their hopes of being discovered on Corky’s hilariously hapless theater production…and on reports that big-time talent scout Mort Guffman will be in the audience. “Waiting for Guffman does for regional theater what This is Spinal Tap did for rock ’n’ roll” (Jami Bernard, New York Daily News).

Robbing banks, holding up stagecoaches: That’s the life Jake Wade tried to leave behind when he put on a badge, found himself a pretty fiancée and set his path on the straight and narrow. But not yet. Wade’s outlaw partner resurfaces to take the lawman and his girl captive, forcing them into a trek to recover the loot Wade buried long ago — and plunging captors and captives into the violent heart of Comanche territory.
John Sturges (The Great Escape) directs, continuing his string of rugged, character-driven tales of action. Robert Taylor and Richard Widmark deliver vivid contrasts as the resolute hero and the depraved desperado. And the snowcapped Sierras provide towering backdrops for the mounting clash of wills.

Look on a map and you won’t find it. Look in your heart and there it will be. Enchantment is a place – and a movie – called Brigadoon when Gene Kelly stars in and choreographs a lyrical film adaptation of the 1947 Broadway musical by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe (My Fair Lady, Camelot).
Vincente Minnelli directs this otherworldly tale of vacationing New Yorkers (Kelly and Van Johnson) who discover a Scottish village that comes to life once every 100 years for one day only. There, Kelly and a town lass (Cyd Charisse) share the love of a lifetime – one seemingly allotted just 24 hours. But fear not, there’s magic and timeless songs hereabouts: “Almost Like Being in Love,” “The Heather on the Hill” and more!
